PRS Foundation and Arts Council NI present - Momentum and International Showcase Fund workshop
Northern Irish artists can now apply for the Momentum Fund and the ISF fund from PRS Foundation. This session will look at previous successful applications and how to best submit an application to the opportunities.
Davy works for PPL, the music licensing company that collect and distribute royalties for performers and record companies when their music is broadcast. He provides direct support for high airplay emerging artists to ensure they maximise their income from UK and international airplay. Davy also has a background as a guitarist and has played in various grunge / post-hardcore bands.
Julian is the Founder of Raygun Music, a Brighton based Management Company, Record Label and Publisher whose roster includes The XCERTS, Luke Sital-Singh, The Wytches, and Paul Steel amongst others. Julian is also co-founder of record label Cannibal Hymns releasing debut recordings from the likes of Dream Wife, Our Girl and Underwater Boys. Previously the guitarist in Toploader, Julian has seen the best and worst of the music industry as well as the seismic changes of recent years and brings this to bear in his approach to artist development and career longevity.
Liam is a artist manager, producer and music educator based in Derry. For the last 10 years he has been lecturing in Music Production and Music Business across the Music courses at the North West Regional College as well as working as an engineer and producer for countless bands from the North West. Most recently he has been managing, producing and developing ‘ROE', the 19 year old songwriter from Derry who recently won the “Oh Yeah Contender” award at the NI Music Prize and is opening for Snow Patrol on their UK arena tour this winter.
Winner of ‘Best Emerging Artist’ at the 2018 Northern Ireland Music Prize, ROE is 19-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Derry (Ireland), Roisin Donald. Laying down her unique brand of self-styled “Grumpy Electro-Pop”, she has been blazing a trail for young female indie artists across Ireland, UK, Europe and beyond. She can currently be found on tour with Snow Patrol, opening for the band on their UK arena tour alongside Kodaline.
Joanne is the interim music and traditional arts development officer at the Arts of Northern Ireland (ACNI). Joanne has been working at ACNI for the past 3 years and she has been working in the music sector across Ireland for the past 20 years. She started out as a recording and live sound engineer and graduated from Queen’s University in 2004 with a BSc in Music Technology before moving into artist management, development and consultancy. Joanne has previously worked with bands including Taste (Formerly Rory Gallagher’s Taste), Swanee River and Mental Deficiency, currently she continues to manage the artist Junior Johnson.
Bhav joined PRS Foundation in 2015 to run the industry funds including Momentum and the International Showcase Fund. Since joining Bhav has launched The Writer Producer Fund and brought on new partners for all industry schemes, particularly expanding opportunities for writer producers in the UK and overseas. Bhav has a long history in A&R, with previous positions at Warner, Universal, and Z Management. As well as running Blackjack London, who have hosted hundreds of showcases in the UK and at festivals such as SXSW, Bhav is a banging DJ, and can often be found behind the decks at Southern Hospitality nights.
