Nigel McApline

Nigel is an experienced and innovative consultant with a passion for problem solving, creativity and technology, having spent over 20 years at the BBC, leading teams to produce unique digital projects including: explaining 30 years of the Northern Ireland Troubles in 3 minute motion graphics, strapping heart monitors to bikers travelling at 200mph, bringing Titanic’s last moments to life in 3D and rebuilding a WW1 trench in Virtual Reality.

Nigel then set up ‘StoryFX’, a creative consultancy, bringing stories to life with the latest immersive technology platforms. His current role with Digital Catapult as Immersive Technology Lead, means he is engaging with a range of companies, industry stakeholders and individuals to highlight the potential of Immersive Technology in driving innovative creative and business opportunities in Northern Ireland, by showcasing the technology available at the Digital Catapult Immersive Lab, housed in the Ormeau Baths in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He has hosted talks and panels at SXSW, Belfast Media Festival and Rendr Festival.
