Kormac

Kormac is a composer, producer and performer from Dublin, Ireland. He is known for twisting organic recordings into widescreen electronica as heard on his numerous solo and collaborative releases as well as a hugely successful run scoring multi- episodic thriller and drama. In 2021 he wrote stirring, uneasy soundtracks for Professionals (starring Brendan Fraiser, Tom Welling) and Red Election (starring Lydia Leonard, Stephen Dillane and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith) currently playing primetime in the U.S. and on Disney Plus, respectively. He's also completed the score for The Diplomat, a 2023 ITV Studios/Word Productions 6-part series starring Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders) and Danny Sapani (Killing Eve, The Crown.)

His first feature, Tarrac! will soon have a full theatrical release. In November ‘22 Kormac released his third album, Equivalent Exchange. On this record he harnesses the Irish Chamber Orchestra and collaborates with rapper Jafaris, vocalists Loah, MayKay and Jack O’ Rourke alongside Persian/Irish multi-instrumentalists Shahab & Shayan Coohe. The album is presented digitally, on vinyl and in Dolby Atmos on his own Always The Sound imprint. While making his second album, Doorsteps, he showed up at the doors of legendary author, Irvine Welsh, Mercury Music Prize Winner, Speech Debelle, Texan legend, Micah P. Hinson and a host of others to collaborate and produce a record that sounds like nothing else. He’s well known for his daring live shows.

Sometimes he performs with a full ensemble, (brass, strings, drums, electronics, bass, guitar and guest vocalists.) For club shows, he brings his studio set up, a drummer and a massive LED wall showing bespoke visuals for alternative takes on his own material. He’s played festivals including Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, Sonar, and toured the UK, Europe, Eastern Europe, Australia, Africa and Canada alongside luminaries Portishead, Nas, Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, Snarky Puppy and a host of others. Current streaming figures are in excess of 50 million. His work on Red Election saw him nominated for Best Original Music for a Drama Series at the European Film Composer Awards.
